Lately, I’ve been deeply interested in sensing in robotic systems and in how machines perceive and respond to the world. This curiosity has drawn me toward the biomedical side of robotics, where precision and human impact come together. I am especially inspired to apply my engineering skills to surgical robotics, developing systems that enhance control, feedback, and safety in medical procedures.

Publications

Advancements in finger prosthesis using shape memory alloy actuation mechanism

Overview. Developed an EMG-driven prosthetic finger actuated by Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires to replicate natural finger motion. Compared SMA-based actuation with servo mechanisms, achieving greater flexibility, compactness, and mobility. Recorded bending angles up to 68°, demonstrating performance comparable to biological fingers and potential for compact prosthetic applications.

Soft finger-like actuator for prosthesis actuated using electromyography signals

Overview. We fabricate a fiber-reinforced soft, finger-like actuator and control it via EMG (MyoWare), a microcontroller, and a DC air pump. A CPID controller, closed-looped with an MPU6050, positions the actuator to ~+32.6° at ~14.4 kPa, sufficient for successful object grasping (verified by tip force sensing). The approach is validated over 10 cycles on four users and includes sensor calibrations (load cell, gyro) and controller comparisons versus ON/OFF and simple closed loop.
